The internet is drowning in AI content. Since ChatGPT launched, AI-generated articles have surged 8,362%. That's a problem - not just for readers, but for Google's business built on showing people the best search results.
Google’s solution? placing more emphasis on human experience. Real experience is the one thing AI can't fake (yet). They have updated their content quality guidelines (called EEAT ) to reward content based on real-world expertise while penalizing those who produce low-quality or unoriginal content.
What is EEAT?
EEAT stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It is Google's way of checking if content is worth showing to people searching online. They recently added "Experience" to make it EEAT instead of just EAT, meaning that Google will give extra attention to content created by people who have real, hands-on experience with what they're talking about.
EEAT Simplified
Experience (new!) - Have you actually done it?
Expertise - Do you know your stuff?
Authoritativeness - Do others trust you?
Trustworthiness - Is your content reliable?
What This Means For Creators
The old SEO playbook of producing the most content and optimizing the best keywords are over. Content creators now need to demonstrate first-hand experience. This means:
Share Your Story- Write about things you know first-hand
Show Your Work- Share your experiences, what worked and what didn't
Keep Learning - Add new experiences and things you discovered along the way
Your Next Step
Pick one thing you're genuinely good at. Maybe it's analyzing market trends, building teams, or optimizing operations. Start documenting your unique approach, what worked and lessons learned.
As AI makes content cheap and plentiful, real experience becomes rare and valuable. While AI can explain how to do something, only humans can share why it matters and what they learned along the way. That's your competitive advantage in an AI-powered world.
